Los Agüizotes

Every year in Masaya they celebrate "Los Agüizotes." It's a massive parade where everyone dresses up as devils and ghosts. It's kind of like Mardi Gras but creepier. There was also, in typical Nica fashion, lots of fire. By lots of fire I mean they were spraying bottles of spray paint into an open flame to create a makeshift blowtorch. It was very safe.

The event itself, while slightly creepy and more than a little hazardous, was quite the experience. We were invited by Jorge Luis to enjoy the view of the parade from the balcony of his house/bike shop (remember the shop?). It was great to see members of the biking club, some of whom dressed up as ghouls. We briefly went down into the parade to see the action close up and then later retreated to the ring-side view from the balcony.
